We are back. Lots going on. Working on the new record, touring and touring. We are in Europe right now but then it is back to the US for some more touring. We will be heading down to SXSW and doing a bunch of shows in Austin then up the westcoast and back home for 24 hours before more touring. We will announce the new dates soon but suffice to say we are very excited about going out with this band because they are one of our faves.
Yes, as you read we are making this record on our own. Our deal with Fearless is completed and we decided that we would begin work on this next record before we even spoke with anyone else.
In other news...
We have made a mini-site with John's artwork.
The original idea was that the band would send out some sort of "thank you" to a few select supporters of the band. People who have been influential in developing the band. Quickly the idea progressed into a more cohesive idea that shared a common theme both conceptually and visually.
Many of you already are familiar with the work that John does but rarely are his paintings presented in one place. This is a start.
John painted most of these in hotels on the road. There are a couple more of these paintings that are not included in the show. If we can execute this we will be offering up two of them to the general public, one via auction for a charity and the other as a lottery. Details to follow within a few weeks.

downloading is great. We love it and embrace it in every way. We can see the benefits every night. We can see bigger crowds regardless of sales. We are lucky to be a part of this wave of file sharing and music loving. I can't read all these bullshit blogs and posts from labels talking about how awful downloading is. They need to grow and evolve and understand the changes happening in music. Deal with it and expand. Work it out brothas and sistas. It's all about progress. Quit expanding budgets and spilling out advances blindly. Work with your bands and they will work with you and defend you. Don't whine. We can all find our place. Open up those minds of yours. Now.... we are in a much different position and it is much easier for us to support downloading. We don't do this for money. There are a million fucking jobs we could do that pay much much more. Much more. I have worked these jobs. Fuck it, we have a good time. In all honesty, it would be great to make money playing music but we are doing it regardless. Now pt2... buying vinyl and flipping through booklets and playing albums and taking in the artwork and being a part of it really and truly helps you understand what the music is and why it is and how it happened. It is huge for me. I remember flipping through all of my parents records when I was a smaller boy and I remember all the stories that played out through them. I remember listening to Abbey Road seeing all the colors and all those involved. Pretty great, right? Cd's have become very unnecessary in a world of file sharing and MP3 players. Bring back the vinyl. Bring back the art that made it worthwhile. Who want's a 5x5 square of hard to read and mostly badly printed and hard to make out paintings, pictures, texts, drawings etc.? Vinyl will never go out. Raid the Goodwills in your hood! Now pt3... I think we have it pretty easy, or I assume so anyway. We love writing music, we love recording, we don't stress about new songs, love of painting and inks, we love to jam, and we love traveling in a world of what we felt to be like minds. Its fun. Labels, Managers, Publicists, Booking agents all have the WORK work. It is amazing to see how much really goes on behind the scenes and we are so lucky to work with some of the best. We get freedom to do as we please and we have a very understanding and open boat. Buying records does help support this. Going to shows does help support this. Buying shirts does help support this. Really. If you truly love something and want to be a part of it then support should be there. Not just in music, but in life and work and family and love. Everything needs a helping hand, ya knows? This is not about us, it is about all of us. It is always about love and art. What happened to that? Is everyone so fucking worried about money that it has taken all of that away? Pretty fucked up in my opinion. All these people bitching about money. Really. Our Families, Rich, Heidi, Julie, Dave, Austin, Ian, Dan Sandshaw, Dave Stein, Casey and our friendly family of listeners and lovers. Thank you so much for being their and supporting us with everything from the beginning and in the last year. You all do so much for us and we will continue to do what we do regardless of the changing weather. Much love Seriously. These bands are great. The Only Children, Grizzly Bear, Celebration, 31 Knots, Kay Kay and his Weathered Underground, Wild Orchid Children, Dr. Helicopter, Menomena, My Morning Jacket, The Builders and the Butchers, Dirty Sweet, Tera Melos, Rocky Votolato. Love them up." 4:08 AM _______________________________________________ 10.4.2007
We are psyched on our way to Boston we are going to make a detour so we can get a chance to see Ween live. It will be fun to see Jason's head explode with joy, they are one of his favorite bands. Also we are already planning another European tour. It looks like it will start mid-February. It will probably be about 3 weeks. We are going to try to add in a few more countries that we have not visited. Thanks for visiting and thanks for listening 9:21 AM _______________________________________________ 9.25.2007
